HMIViewer Vs VNC for remote access with EasyAccess

This article will not cover the configuration of EasyAccess topic that has already been widely discussed in some topics in the forum (View, you see, you see), but we focus on the differences between remote access done with HMIViewer versus using a VNC client.

Once logged in, from the main EasyAccess window, you can set the paths of the various programs that can be activated. The VNC viewer is not included in the EasyBuilderPro installation. It is possible to install any viewer there are many free ones (In the example we use UltraVnc).

In the main window you can see all the panels that the administrator has assigned to the user with the indication if the panel is online. For each panel it is possible to access its own settings menu.

Access settings
It is possible to define if you want to access remotely using the defined VNC viewer or using the HMIViewer program (See setting on the side).

For access via HMIViewer it is important to define if you want to use the project file on the PC or if you want to upload the project from the terminal (The project file is downloaded from the terminal and transferred to the PC).

Access with VNC client
The image of the panel screen is virtualized on the PC and it is possible with the mouse or the touch screen to operate exactly as you would operate from the panel itself. In this way, the panel manages communications with the PLC and any operator acting on the panel "sees" the actions performed remotely and can act in contrast. Everything that the panel displays is viewed remotely (Example cameras, VNCClient, etc.).

Login with HMIViewer
HMIViewer runs the panel program (Exactly like the EasyBuilderPro On-line simulator), communication with the PLC takes place from the HMIViewer program which operates completely autonomously from the panel. While this allows you to hide what you are doing remotely from a possible operator, on the other it prevents you from seeing what the operator is doing. Some display objects present in the screen are not managed so for example the video of a camera, the screen of a VNC client, etc. will not be displayed.
