I own two buildings (an office building and a shed) about 100 m apart and which "can be seen" without obstacles or other properties in between. The fiber internet line reaches the offices, but for internal needs I need to bring the LAN (and also the internet) into the shed, which, in turn, must have its own wifi network to operate the wireless barcode readers.
I had thought of a wifi bridge between the two buildings, but not being very experienced in this field, I ask you if you can tell me which tools, among the Ubiquiti catalog, are most suitable for my purpose. Reading around a bit, I saw that for the distance I have to cover the NanoStations should be fine, but are we sure that there are no signal problems under any circumstances, even in bad weather? And any other WiFi networks nearby can I interfere? Is it better if I stay on 5 or 2,4 ghz?
Or is it better to take a product with an external, more powerful antenna?
My other question is: is the bridge network created with these devices safe? Does it have AES 256 encryption?
Also, since I need to have WiFi in the shed, can I install the two bridges and attach an additional NanoStation configured as an AP to one of them? Bearing in mind that the shed is about 4200 square meters and extends in length above all, will a single station be enough to cover everything?

June 24, 2016 at 6: 50 am #39639Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumFor the bridge there should be no problem 100 m with optical visibility very well two NanoStations. Bridges are usually done at 5 Ghz. The encryption is AES 128 Bits.
As for the management of WiFi in the shed, it is always difficult to give precise indications. If the shed is free from high obstacles (shelving, systems, etc.) the best would be an omnidirectional antenna in the center of the shed. You can use a Bullet with a 9 dBi omni antenna.
