I wanted to kindly ask you for information: I bought an ATC-1000 Ethernet-serial converter, having the need to be able to transmit signals from a PC to a machine via RS485 protocol via VCOM, I noticed that unlike the old transmission system (ATEN ic485si) , setting the same transfer parameters, the new converter is much slower. The configuration set and Server on the device, transmission via TCP and conversion to RS485.
I ask you if you have a suggestion in this case to give me.
October 22, 2019 at 6: 19 am #50296Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumThe ATC-1000 Ethernet / Serial converter is the low cost entry level of a range of converters manufactured by ATC and the processor used is not among the fastest in the range. However, it is the best-selling Ethernet / Serial converter and we have never had negative feedback on speed.
Many customers use it for RS485 communications with inverters in the photovoltaic field or for automation data acquisition. Of course, as I say to everyone, sometimes the virtualization software introduces problems and here maybe you can try using a different virtualization software. You can try the HW VSP3 – Virtual Serial Port downloadable from our site in the download section.
Where possible I advise you not to use the COM virtualization software but to directly access the converter with a TCP / IP connection.
Coming to your problem I can tell you to try a connection in UDP (Which not handling the Ack is faster). If you can check the speed with a direct connection in TCP without using the virtual COM.
In the configuration parameters in the UART menu, you have set a delimiter value on the Silent time ? Because in this case the converter waits the set time before sending the data packet.

I have also tried setting up with a UDP connection but I could not transmit. In the configuration parameters in the UART menu the value on Silent time is disabled and set to 0.
Do you have any other tips for me?
November 6, 2019 at 1: 13 pm #50798Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumI find the fact of slowness strange, it would seem more a problem related to the Virtual COM software, because the converter in itself we use it in many applications and we don't complain of problems of slowness.
We have applications where it is used as an additional serial port to our systems SlimLine (See topic) in which at least a dozen converters manage as many Modbus communications to devices in the field.
