I recently purchased one SlimLine but I don't have the dialogue cable with the PC. Since I am trying to understand something, I wanted to know which cables I need to have a perfect communication between PC and SlimLine.
Between PC and touch screen display and once programmed…. The communication cable between the display and it SlimLine.
July 4, 2011 at 9: 13 am #36818Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumThe Lite of the CPU SlimLine it has 2 RS232 serial ports, available on 45-pole RJ8 connector. The version Full adds the availability of an ethernet port and an RS485 or CAN port. All models also have a USB client port that is not managed at the current version of the software.
As regards the connection of the CPU module to the PC serial port, it is possible to use a DB9F / RJ45 Null-Modem adapter joined to one unshielded 45/8 RJ8 cable of the desired length, for more information on serial ports see article.
For the connection with the serial port of the operator terminal it is necessary to refer to the terminal documentation, if the connection is in RS232 it will be sufficient to connect appropriately the signals RD, TD and GND. If the connection is in RS485, just connect the two wires D + and D-. If you use Weintek terminals distributed by us for the connection see post.
If you have the Full version you can connect it to your PC via an Ethernet network, just use a common patch cable, SlimLine has an ethernet port autosensing therefore any type of direct or cross cable can be used. The use of the ethernet connection (Using one Switch) allows you to create a network between the PC SlimLine and the terminal facilitating programming and testing without having to continually disconnect and reconnect cables. For setting the IP address on the CPU SlimLine please refer to this article.
Please note:, we recommend the purchase (or self-construction) of the serial adapter also for the Full versions, as any operating system upgrade see article) are only possible from a serial port COM0.

So I report below the 4 essential signals that must be connected between the male RJ45 connector to be inserted of the CPU module, and the female DB9 connector to be connected to the serial port of the PC (See diagram).
Pin on RJ45 Pin on DB9
4 (GND) ——–> 5 (GND)
5 (RxD) ———> 3 (TxD)
6 (TxD) ———> 2 (RxD)
7 (CTS) ——–> 7 (RTS) -
