Where can I find a connection diagram between a PicoFace in RS232 and one SlimLine, I have always used them in RS485 connection but now I need to change the connection.
August 30, 2021 at 11: 14 am #60956Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumThe RJ45 connector of the Picoface serial connection is exactly the same as that of the CPU module SlimLine. So be careful not to make the mistake they make in motions, you do not need to use a pin-to-pin cable for connection.
If you want to connect them with our cable you have to use a CBL078 cable Null Modem RJ45-RJ45, alternatively you can build the cable yourself following this scheme:
CPU SlimLine Picoface 4-SG --------- 4-SG 5-RD --------- 6-TD 6-RD --------- 5-TD 7-CTS -------- 8-RTS 8-RTS -------- 7-CTS
August 30, 2021 at 11: 28 am #60960AuthorlessIdleI replaced the cable but the Picoface still doesn't work ...
Are there any settings for which the Picoface does not communicate with the 232?
Are there any tests I can do to check if it works?August 30, 2021 at 11: 35 am #60963Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumIn the meantime, it is necessary to check the settings of the serial communication, which as reported in the FB HMIAInOnePicoface they must be:
Sp.COM:=ADR('COM0'); //COM port definition Sp.Baudrate:=115200; //Baudrate Sp.Parity:='E'; //Parity Sp.DataBits:=8; //Data bits Sp.StopBits:=1; //Stop bits Sp.DTRManagement:=DTR_AUTO_WO_TIMES; //DTR management Sp.DTRComplement:=FALSE; //DTR complement Sp.EchoFlush:=FALSE; //Received echo flush
Pay attention to the product code, on all models there are both the serial RJ45 connector and the connector for the expansion bus, but only the model whose code ends with 100 (full version) can work connected in serial. Since it may seem strange I explain the differences.
SlimLine Picoface HMI (Basic version): It connects to the CPU module via expansion bus (its default address is 15), define Sp.COM:=ADR(‘PCOM15.1’). The RJ45 connector allows you to add a serial port to the system that can be used by FB SysSerialPort setting xxx.COM:=(‘PCOM15.0’).
SlimLine Picoface HMI (Full version): It connects to the CPU module via serial RS232 / RS485, define Sp.COM:=ADR(‘COMx’) according to the port used on the CPU module for the connection.
