In 2019 we purchased a Poseidon system for monitoring the temperature in a series of incubators with the relative license for the PDSM software (200 sensors). Now we need to replace the desktop PC on which the software is installed and I would like to understand how to proceed without risking losing the acquired data.
If I uninstall the software from the old PC and install it in the new one with the relative activation code, will the measurements acquired from 2019 onwards be viewable in the new PC?
September 8, 2021 at 12: 13 pm #61049Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumThe acquired data is stored in the file DATA.FDB in the PDMS program installation folder (See topic). It is therefore necessary to make a copy of this file which will then be transferred to the new software installation. It is however recommended to keep a backup of this file.
Below are the steps to perform to migrate the PDMS program from one PC to another:
- Install PDMS of same version to new computer
- Dont forget to close PDMS also in Windows Systray on old computer
- STOP services on both old and new computers:
- HWg_PDMS_WEB_Service
- HWg_PDMS_Service
- FirebirdServerHWg
- Copy DATA.FDB file (under PDMS folder) from old to new computer
* good idea is to backup this file - START services on new computer:
- FirebirdServerHWg
- HWg_PDMS_Service
- HWg_PDMS_WEB_Service
- Insert license
- if online type of PDMS license, it will ask for confirmation of assign to new computer
- if offline, than it must be generated by HWg for new computer (file from old PC will not work)
Offline license means a license that can be used on PCs not connected to the Internet, in this case an ad-hoc license is generated linked to the PC on which the program is running, for the offline license request. see article.
