I have a PLC Slimline MPS054A110 serial number 00198 Software code: SFW198E060, is it normal for it to be 6 minutes behind since the last date and time alignment done in July?
Is it possible to connect it as a client to an external NTP server?
On that version of CPU modules the Maxim DS3231 RTC is used, as the datasheet mentions:
The DS3231 is a extremely accurate I2C real-time clock (RTC) with an integrated temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal.
From tests carried out in our updated laboratory, the time with an NTP server after 1 month of operation showed a 1 second difference compared to the value of the NTP server. The only explanation for the exaggerated deviation that was found could be the wear of the battery that powers the RTC with the system off, given that the module was tested on 18/09/2018 and sold on 05/10/2018. 5 years old.
To synchronize the clock with an NTP server you can use the FB SNTPRequest, the example program ST_SystemClockSync does exactly that.
