I have an MT8073iE operator terminal that has two ethernet ports, can I use the two ports as if they were the ports of a network switch?
Is the second door the same as before or does it have a particular use?
May 14, 2018 at 8: 29 am #44076Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumThe two Ethernet ports of the terminals are equal to each other but must be set to 2 different classes, so they can not be used as a network switch.
May 17, 2018 at 10: 00 am #44103StefanoParticipantIt is possible to connect one ethernet port to the network, the other to one SlimLine and use the panel as a gateway to program it SlimLine via LogicLab, on the local network?
May 17, 2018 at 10: 04 am #44118Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumThe two ports are separate from each other and it is not possible to set up routing rules between them, so in the local network it is not possible to do what you ask for.
The scenario is different if you connect with EasyAccess in this case both ethernet ports are accessible remotely via EasyAccess, so you can pass through a device connected to any of the two ports.
March 19, 2019 at 1: 13 pm #46950AlbertoParticipantCan you explain the operation of the panels with double ethernet?
1) How should the two ports be configured? I guess with different classes.
2) In LAN operation I see the panel web page. Is it possible, for example, to talk to the PLC connected to the other ethernet?
3) Same question as for item 2) but from the Internet with EasyAccess.March 19, 2019 at 1: 15 pm #46952Sergio BertanaAdministrator Forum1) Come vanno configurate le due porte? Immagino con classi diverse.
Yes the ports are not configurable in switching mode, so they must be configured on different 2 Lan2) In funzionamento LAN vedo la pagina web del pannello. E’ possibile ad esempio parlare con il PLC connesso all’altra ethernet ?
Currently, the Bridge function that allows you to connect to an Ethernet device on the network other than the one where we are connected is possible. Only through EasyAccess2 and with a limitation to only one connection point, in the coming months we will have EB pro updates that will allow the Bridge to be in the local network (ie without the use of EA2).3) Stessa domanda del punto 2) ma da internet con EasyAccess.
See answer above, in addition also in this case there will be updates during the year (indicatively just after the summer) that will allow you to connect to multiple devices simultaneously.November 27, 2020 at 5: 10 pm #58351Massimiliano PaolucciParticipantI insert myself in this old post because I was presented with a problem inherent to this. Sergio confirms to me that the two LAN ports of the terminals, although different, are both accessible via EA2.
I am installing a cMT3072 configured with DHCP on LAN1 (connected to a company switch with connection to the company router) and on LAN2 I have a fixed IP (on which a Schneider M221 plc is connected).
If I connect with EA2 on LAN1 my panel is invisible, paradoxically if I swap the LANs and connect the company network on LAN 2, EA2 works correctly. Are there any settings I need to change?
Did I make a mistake during system settings on Easy Builder?
November 27, 2020 at 5: 17 pm #58361Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumI'm the Sergio who told you that the two LAN ports are accessible via EasyAccess, now I don't remember exactly what I told you (I think by phone), maybe I said something wrong. Here's how to use the two LAN ports on the panel.
LAN1 is the one for accessing the panel via the Internet, so it is connected to the company network or to an LTE router.
LAN2 connects only to the machine network.
The 2 LANs must be set on two different network classes and should not be connected to the same switch unless this is a properly configured managed switch.
Basically, all this serves to separate the networks to ensure that only the machine network can be reached from EasyAccess, guaranteeing the security of access to the company network.

In summary as you wrote: LAN 1 Internet etc .., LAN 2 machine network.
But the problem that presents itself to me is that if I connect the LAN cable to port 2 I have full access to easy access, but if I unplug the cable and connect it to LAN 1 easy access does not see me at all!
What can this be due to?
Thanks for pointing out that they should not both be connected to a switch hub (if not configured) because I would have surely made this mistake.November 30, 2020 at 2: 36 pm #58370Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumHas LAN 1 been configured correctly?
Have you defined a network address compatible with the network that provides you with Internet access, have you defined the gateway and the DNS server?
Because if EasyAccess doesn't work it seems to be a problem connecting the panel to the Internet, you can also display the window on the panel 76 EasyAccess 2.0 Setting and see what kind of alerts it displays.
December 1, 2020 at 8: 05 am #58382Massimiliano PaolucciParticipantThe machine in which this cMT is installed goes abroad and therefore I thought it appropriate to configure LAN 1 with DHCP. And so on LAN 1 I have not made manual settings. Unlike LAN 2 where I entered IP and MASK to stay in the same private network as the PLC.
I also tried to factory reset the touch and set the DHCP. This is how LAN 1 on EA2 works.
But if I load the project and set the manual DHCP it gives me connection error 201 on EA2.There are definitely incorrect settings but where can I start?
If LAN 1 obtains an address like 192.168.1.XX from DHCP and LAN 2 is manually set to 192.168.1.XX, can there be a conflict?December 1, 2020 at 8: 11 am #58384Sergio BertanaAdministrator ForumSurely this is a problem, one of the conditions to be respected absolutely is to have the two ports configured on different network classes.
You can't have 192.168.1.xx on both ports, so it's okay to activate DHCP but if your DHCP server gives you a network address that overlaps the PLC network you need to change the setting in the PLC network.
Alternatively, you can work with MASK to mask in the PLC network the only two IPs that interest you, that of the PLC and that of the panel, but you must be sure that they do not overlap the IP addresses of the other network and in any case it is a configuration that requires a lot of attention.
